A Day at Alice Log House

Do you want to dine with a front row seat on the beauty of Mother Nature? Or do you want to wake up looking at the majestic sunrise? Or watch the carpet of stars before going to sleep? Or do you just want to simply chill and enjoy the untouched beauty of nature? If yes, then this place is for you.

Essential Info

This place is very accessible since it’s just alongside Buda highway. It offers a perfect view of the Arakan Valley which really made this log house a must-visit place. It is located at Bagong Silang , Baganihan, Marilog, Davao City. It has a log house which can accomodate 12 people or more, a restaurant, and three rooms for occupancy. Beside the log house is their 3-story building which has the restaurant (Alice Kitchen) on the top floor, the three rooms on the second floor, and the staff’s house on the bottom floor. It’s built on the mountainside so the top floor ( Alice Kitchen) will be the first room you’ll see.

Arrival

Our check-in time was 1:00 p.m., and we arrived there around 12:15, so we were asked to wait until 1:00 because the staff were still preparing our room. We waited on the viewing deck of their restaurant while enjoying the relaxing view of Arakan Valley. Finally, the wait is over, and we were led to our reserved room. 🙂

The Room

This room is good for two which costs Php 2,500 or $48.91 per night with free breakfast for two. Check-in time is 1:00 p.m. and the check-out time is 11 a.m. the following day.

It’s has an intimate vibe to it, and it has a perfect view of the Arakan valley. We were really amazed when we saw the room for the first time. You can lounge at the room’s balcony and enjoy the view with your loved one.

The room has one flatscreen T.V. Unfortunately, it has three channels only, so if you’re planning to stay in your room all day, we recommend that you bring your own flashdrive with lots of movies in it. Just plug it on the TV’s USB port and you’re good to go. 🙂

It also has a water dispenser detachable bracket and two glasses which is really convenient. We didn’t use the room’s wall fan since the place is really cold. The only downside of the room is it doesn’t have a shower nor a heater. The water is really ice cold, so a heater would’ve been nice. Nevertheless, our stay was still awesome even without it.

The Food

For our dinner, we ordered Breaded Porkchop which is Php 165.00 and Chicken Nuggets which is Php 140.00. It’s fried food, so we can’t say it’s a sumptuous meal. We planned on ordering their Ultimate Platter which is composed of nachos, fries, and nuggets for Php 320.00 however we can’t bring food in our room, and it’s too cold to eat on their restaurant, so we opted not to order it anymore.

For our breakfast, we were served with Tocino and egg with rice, and bacon with egg, and rice which were really tasty. Hot beverages in hotels or resorts are quite expensive, so we just bought milk and coffee on a sachet at the sari-sari store along the way. We just borrowed their mugs and asked for a sugar and hot water. Voila! We had two mugs of hot creamy coffee for just Php 18.00. 🙂

We ate our meal with a nice view of Arakan Valley while the cold wind was fanning our faces. We were also graced with a rainbow during that time. It was a romantic and a memorable breakfast for us as a couple.

Disclaimer: We just ordered their cheapest food not their best seller because we were on a tight budget. 😀 I’m sure their more expensive meals are tastier than what we’ve eaten. 🙂 There are pictures of their menu below for your reference.

The View

These magnificent view of the Arakan Valley were all taken from our room’s balcony. We were awed by the scenic beauty of the place. We were able to watch the sunset, the carpet of stars at night, and the sunrise. The room’s price was really worth it. 🙂
